Question 1

Is Notyrus really free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every feature is free in your browser: no trial, no paywall and no ads. If it helps you, you can support it on Patreon, but nothing is locked behind it.

Question 2

Do you collect my data?

Accepted Answer

Never your files: your books and notes go straight between your device and your own Google Drive, or stay on your device, and our servers never see, store or sell them. If you sign in with Google, Notyrus keeps your email and an encrypted sign-in (so you need not approve it again on each device), and counts how many people use it each day, and on what kind of device. No ads, no third-party trackers. Account, then Delete my data, removes it all.

Question 3

Does Notyrus work offline?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Add it to your home screen and it opens without a connection. Books you have opened stay readable, and everything you write is kept on the device and saved to Google Drive when you are back online.

Question 4

Which devices does it work on?

Accepted Answer

Any device with a modern browser: iPad, iPhone, Android tablets and phones, Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebook. Sign in with Google and the same books and notes follow you to every device.

Question 5

Do I need to install an app?

Accepted Answer

No. Notyrus runs in the browser at notyrus.com. You can add it to your home screen or desktop so it opens like an app, full screen and offline.

Question 6

Can I write with Apple Pencil or a stylus?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The pen follows pressure, ignores your resting palm and has a highlighter, pencil, shapes, ruler, eraser and lasso. Choose whether a finger draws or scrolls.

Question 7

Where are my notes saved?

Accepted Answer

With Google, as ordinary files in a Notyrus folder in your own Google Drive, beside each book. Without an account, in this browser only; Export saves a copy you can keep or move.

Question 8

Can I annotate photos or scanned pages?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Pick photos of pages, scans or screenshots and Notyrus turns them into one book you can highlight, write on and keep notes beside, like any PDF.
